Kristin Siegfried Ballenger
Kristin Siegfried Ballenger is an award-winning violin maker and restorer. She is a graduate of the Chicago School of Violin Making and earned a Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. While still in school, she held a position as a luthier at Seman Violins and continued there after graduation.
In 2019, Kristin began as an instructor at the Chicago School of Violin Making with Antoine Nédélec. She recently moved to Boston and is focusing on new making along with her restoration work at Reuning & Son Violins. Kristin is a participant in the annual Oberlin Violin Makers and Restoration workshops, where she pursues new techniques and refines her craft. She is the Vice President of the Violin Society of America and has been on its Board of Directors since 2018.
